Quick 10:
#1 In 2–3 sentences, share your year in school, your college or university, your major, and what you hope to do after graduation. Include where you currently live or study.
I am a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying business at Kenan-Flagler. I am also a Division I field hockey student-athlete. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in private banking or wealth management, ideally in Houston, where I’m from.
#2 What’s the most rewarding part of being a student and athlete?
The most rewarding part of being a student-athlete is being part of a team that pushes me to grow every day. Competing at a high level while building lifelong relationships is something I don’t take for granted.
#3 What’s the most challenging part?
I find the most challenging part is deciding how to prioritize my time while striving to excel in both athletics and academics. Both require discipline and a significant time commitment, so it takes strong time management and intentional decision-making, all while trying to fully enjoy my time in Chapel Hill.
#4 What’s a piece of advice you’ve received that you find yourself returning to often?
My mom always reminds me to control the controllables—my attitude and effort. Choosing to maintain a positive attitude and working hard, regardless of the circumstances, has already produced tremendous rewards in my life, and I know it’s only just the beginning.
#5 What’s one way a female has positively influenced your professional or personal growth?
My female coaches have had a profound impact on my growth by modeling confidence, resilience, and leadership. Being surrounded by such strong and independent women has empowered me to take chances, whether during the college recruiting process or by stepping into new leadership roles, and they’ve shown me how to lead with both strength and empathy.
#6 What unexpected skill, hobby, or practice brings you joy right now?
Lately, I’ve gotten really into pickleball. It’s a fun way to stay competitive in a more relaxed setting while spending time with friends outside of my sport, and it’s quickly become something I look forward to each week.
#7 Describe a unique strength or superpower you have that rarely shows up on a résumé.
I have a unique ability to remember people’s birthdays. I can recall dates from years ago, and it often surprises people. Even though it’s small, it’s a meaningful way I show that I value them.
#8 What’s a daily or weekly ritual you rely on to feel grounded?
A daily ritual I rely on is calling my mom. I trust her more than anyone and can always count on her guidance to ground me, and it reminds me to prioritize relationships and what matters most.
#9 Share your three all-time favorite books.
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
#10 If you could host a themed girls’ night, what would the theme be?
My girls’ night theme would, without a doubt, be Texas-themed. I’d serve some great BBQ from Pinkerton’s Barbecue with refreshments, have everyone come in their best pair of boots, and set up a custom hat bar where you can design your own cowboy hat.
