Quick 10!
#1 Tell us a bit about your business.
I’m Yvonne Hall, Managing Partner at Hall & Dornan Capital Partners in Issaquah, WA. Our passion is guiding professionals—especially women—and those transitioning into retirement toward clarity and confidence in a complex financial world. We help clients thrive, not just survive.
#2 What is the most rewarding part of being a part of the financial advising industry?
Watching someone move from uncertainty to empowerment is pure magic. Helping clients turn their dreams into reality and knowing you’ve made a lasting impact—that’s why I love what I do.
#3 What is the most challenging part of working in the industry?
The hardest part? Navigating the unknown. Markets shift, economies wobble, and none of us control the hand we’re dealt. The challenge—and the art—is guiding clients through the storms with calm and confidence.
#4 Knowing what you know now, what career advice would you give your younger self?
Be fearless. Yes, be prudent and responsible—but don’t let fear hold you back. Bold moves open doors you never imagined.
#5 What is one idea to further move the needle in attracting, retaining and advancing more women in financial advising?
Create visible pathways and mentorship programs that spotlight women leaders. Representation matters—when women see others thriving, they know it’s possible for them too.
#6 What is one of your superpowers that has nothing to do with wealth management?
I have a knack for spotting potential in people and surrounding myself with those who elevate me—and inspire me to show up as my best self.
#7 What’s one of your non-negotiable self-care practices?
Yoga and meditation keep me grounded, and my annual wellness retreat—with a full digital detox—is my reset button for mind, body, and soul.
#8 Who is a woman who has had an important impact on your life or career?
My mom. She reinvented herself in her 40s, going back to college for a Master’s in Library Science after raising a family. She taught me the value of education and resilience. Ironically, she wasn’t great with money—maybe that nudged me toward this career.
#9 What are three of your all-time favorite books?
Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series—for its depth and humanity.
Life Is in the Transitions by Bruce Feiler—because change is the only constant.
Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn—a powerful call to action for women worldwide.
#10 If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
“Nevertheless, She Persisted.” Because grit and grace have been my guiding stars.
