Colleen is the managing director of Anthem Advisors of Raymond James. Colleen’s consistent purpose is to be an invaluable strategic financial planning partner to her clients as they reach toward achieving their unique, long term goals. As a wealth management specialist and retirement plan consultant who has completed the certificate course from Investment Management Consultants Association, she takes great care to ensure that each client’s attitude and risk tolerance levels and preferences are met as his or her customized plan evolves and reaches maturity.
A financial advisor with Raymond James & Associates since 2005, Colleen has extensive experience in the financial services industry. She began her career with Merrill Lynch and Co. in 1986, specializing in insurance and estate planning and working with numerous investment advisors and their clients. In 1993, Colleen partnered with a female investment advisor and a year later they moved their practice to PaineWebber. Her partner retired in 2004 and Colleen and her team moved to Raymond James in 2005. She has long been fascinated by numbers and finance, and enjoys the independent thinking that her current position encourages. She has served on Raymond James’ Women’s Advisory Council (2005-2015), which supports and mentors women financial advisors at the firm. She joined the by invitation only Raymond James Executive Council in 2015 for a two year commitment that engages interaction with senior management on the needs of financial advisors of the firm. She has been on the Raymond James Chairman’s Council since 2006. Colleen was named to the Forbes “Top 200 Women Advisors in 2017”. The Forbes ranking is based on an algorithm of qualitative and quantitative data, rating thousands of women advisors with a minimum of seven years experience.
Charity is a key foundation in Colleen’s life and she supports various charities that focus on children, animals, feeding the poor and cancer research. In 2003, she and her husband David founded the Alexander Foundation (thealexanderfd.org), whose purpose is to provide financial assistance to parents and relatives of children born with Cloverleaf Syndrome and other craniofacial related conditions. It also serves to educate on the mistreatment of people with disabilities through the book “Hugs, Handshakes, and High Fives”, and to publish news on various treatment options for children with craniofacial related issues. She serves as the Foundation’s Treasurer while she also recruits and fundraises for the annual golf outing. She was awarded the Wealth Advisor with Heart through Investment News magazine in 2014 for her work with The Alexander Foundation. She is also involved in Funding the Future (fundingthefuturelive.org) which involves educating students on the importance of making smart financial decisions through a live rock concert by the band, Gooding, and a multimedia presentation of financial literacy.
Mentoring is extremely important to Colleen. Having been mentored herself, she pays it forward by mentoring other women advisors and was a member of the inaugural rollout of the RAMP program at Raymond James, which mentors sales associates at the firm who have a desire to become financial advisors in the future. Mentoring, supporting and financially assisting others in the community are key drivers in Colleen’s life.
Originally from Flint, Michigan, Colleen and her husband David have been married since 1980. They currently live in Grand Blanc, Michigan. They have three adult children and a grandson.
