Membership Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the Women’s Alliance Ambassador Membership?

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” This proverb perfectly captures the spirit of the Women’s Alliance of Financial Advisors (“Women’s Alliance”).

We stand on the precipice of a significant financial shift: the “Great Wealth Transfer.” Over the next few decades, an estimated $68 trillion will pass from baby boomers to younger generations, and women are expected to inherit approximately 70% of that wealth. Despite this, women currently comprise only 18% of financial advisors.

The need for gender diversity in our industry is no longer just a matter of equity; it is an essential component of meeting the evolving needs of today’s clients. Research consistently shows that clients report significantly higher levels of satisfaction when working with women advisors, who often bring the empathy, active listening, and communication skills that build deep, long-term trust.

At the Women’s Alliance, we believe that financial advising is an incredibly fulfilling path for women seeking purpose, flexibility, and success. We are passionate about creating firm-neutral connections where women lift one another up. Whether you are just starting out, navigating mid-career growth, considering a shift into the industry, or sharing your wisdom as a late-career or retired advisor, your perspective enriches our community. Together, we are not just witnessing the future of wealth management; we are leading it.

What is the purpose of a Business Partnership, and how does it differ from Individual Membership?

While Individual Membership focuses on the personal and professional growth of the advisor, a Business Partnership is designed for firms, vendors, and organizations that want to invest in the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in wealth management.

As a Business Partner of the Women’s Alliance, you receive a range of benefits, including:

  • Strategic Collaboration: Opportunities to solve industry challenges alongside a nationwide network of leaders and influencers.
  • Firm Visibility: Recognition as a champion of the mission, including marketing and branding visibility for your firm within our community.
  • Team Access: Individual memberships for advisors within your firm to ensure they are connected and supported.
  • Opportunity: Direct access to a motivated community of women professionals and the opportunity to help shape a more inclusive industry.
  • Collective Impact: Your partnership provides the critical funding needed for our 501(c)(3) to maintain accessible dues for individuals and drive industry-wide change.

Who is eligible to join?

If you are passionate about supporting progress in the industry as an advocate or an ally, this community is for you. The firm-neutral, nonprofit framework of the Women’s Alliance uniquely positions us to deliver value to advisors and businesses across the industry. We welcome current and future financial advisors, as well as industry leaders and partners who understand that women are vital to the health and sustainability of the financial advising profession.

Can men join, or are Members all women?

Women, men, and non-binary partners all play a vital role as advocates and allies. Men who join the Women’s Alliance are important voices for change, helping to transform the financial advising industry into one that fully engages and empowers women. We are proud to invite a wide diversity of partners to support and participate actively in this community. You are welcome here!

Are my annual dues tax-deductible?

The modest annual membership dues cover a small percentage of the cost of the resources provided to our members and are not tax-deductible. However, many of our members are also Women’s Alliance donors, providing invaluable support for our programs. Those contributions are recognized as tax-deductible donations to our 501(c)(3) organization and allow us to keep membership dues at an accessible level for all.

What is an Ambassador Circle?

Ambassador Circles are small communities within our larger network that allow for deeper connection and specialized discussion.

  • Regional Circles: Local membership hubs functioning as an extension of the Women’s Alliance to Empower, Inspire, and Build.
  • Advocacy Circle: A group focused on building industry influence through thought leadership and outreach to students and mid-career changers.
  • Early-Career Advisor Circle: Connects advisors in their first four years for community support and professional development.
