Rise Private Wealth Management

Quick 10!

#1  Tell us a bit about your business.

I am a Private Wealth Advisor & Co-founder of Rise Private Wealth Management, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services in Rye Brook, New York. I am the former Founder and CEO of Pell Wealth Partners which merged with Rise in August of 2024. I have been a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial since 1986 serving high-net worth clients in the New York tristate area.

#2  What is the most rewarding part of being a financial advisor?

I am a firm believer that when done well, investment management and financial planning can be a healing modality – helping to give people the peace of mind to know they will not run out of money before they run out of life. I am particularly passionate about working with women who are making financial decisions alone.

#3  What is the most challenging part?

I love to embrace challenges but sometimes as financial advisors, we end up working with people that don’t want to change or follow advice and consequently we need to let them go.  As FAs who became advisors with the goal of helping people achieve goals, we have to understand that we can’t help everyone and that is okay.

#4   Knowing what you know now, what’s one piece of career advice you’d give your younger self?

Create a vision of the type of people you’d like to work with in terms of personality fit and asset level and stick with it.  Figure out who you enjoy and what gives you joy.  It will make a career well lived.

#5.  What is one idea that would help further move the needle in attracting, retaining and/or advancing more women in financial advising?

I’ve never spoken to a woman who doesn’t think this is the most rewarding career in the world.  Women are collaborators and connectors by nature.  We need to do a better job helping people understand that this job isn’t about just numbers and capital markets, but about getting to know people, helping them to accomplish their goals and live their best lives.

#6.  What is one of your superpowers that has nothing to do with wealth management?

I am a connector – I love connecting people and am always introducing clients and friends to help them succeed.  This takes extra time but it is very rewarding and appreciated.  It keeps me on my toes in terms of strategic thinking.

 #7  What’s one of your non-negotiable self-care practices?

Mindfulness meditation and yoga.

#8  Who is a woman who has had an important impact on your life or career?

I’ve been very influenced Brené Brown and her research and books on vulnerability.  Sharing ourselves with each other and clients is game changing.

#9  What are three of your all-time favorite books?
Dare to Lead by Brené Brown; How to Get What you Want and Remain True to Yourself by Doug Lennick and Roy Geer; and Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

#10  If your life were a movie, what would the title be?

“Resilience”
