Quick 10!
#1 Tell us a bit about your business.
I am Principal and Financial Advisor at CAPTRUST at the Lewes Delaware location. I focus on comprehensive planning for High-Net-Worth Individuals and those individuals facing a life transition.
#2 What is the most rewarding part of being a financial advisor?
Empowering my clients to live their best lives while strategically using their resources to do so.
#3 What is the most challenging part?
Overextending myself by wanting to help everyone.
#4 Knowing what you know now, what career advice would you give your younger self?
That we are not in the business of “fixing” people’s problems for them. We are the guide and educator for them to acknowledge and implement the opportunities put in front of them. And you don’t have to hold yourself out as the expert of everything, but you can certainly connect with someone who can assist.
#5. What is one idea to further move the needle in attracting, retaining and advancing more women in financial advising?
The mission is clear: We need to increase the number of women advisors using our many grass root efforts, as well as lift one another up along the way. We also need to remember to celebrate every victory along the way. Women seem to have a hard time advocating for themselves.
#6. What is one of your superpowers that has nothing to do with wealth management?
Gosh, always trying to find that one. Having a strong sense of empathy is my goal.
#7 What’s one of your non-negotiable self-care practices?
Exercise daily within the first few hours of my day.
#8 Who is a woman who has had an important impact on your life or career?
My 9th grade schoolteacher, Mrs. “B”. The year long project she had her students complete was a “Book of Yourself”. It forced me to do some self-reflection and forward looking exercises that I have remembered to this day. Such an impressionable age and at a time when life was very difficult for me.
#9 What are three of your all-time favorite books?
For inspiration: Halftime by Bob Buford.
For self-reflection: The Anatomy of Peace by The Arbinger Institute.
For fun and respect of past history: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.
#10 If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ |
